Do you ever get Persian/Himalayan kittens?

No, never. We've never seen a Persian or Himalayan kitten under the age of 10 months that needed to be rescued.

What is the adoption fee for our animals?

The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats and $60.00 for (mixed breed) kittens

This fee covers:

Where do our animals come from?

  • Animals Shelters
  • Strays
  • Surrendered by owners for various reasons

What if I’m looking for a certain breed of cat?

While most of our rescued animals are Persians or Himalayans or mixes, we can keep an eye out for a certain breed if requested.

Where does Flat-Faced Friends Rescue get its funding?

Our funding comes from private donations from folks like you.

Why does Flat-Faced Friends Rescue place such an emphasis on the need for spaying and neutering?

First, spaying or neutering your animal greatly reduces the population of unwanted animals who would otherwise die of starvation, disease or be eaten by predators. Just as important are the health benefits. Early spaying in females significantly reduces the risk of mammary cancer and urinary disease. Early neutering will eliminate male spraying , will minimize their desire to roam or fight and will significantly reduce the incidence of prostate and testicular cancer. Pets should be spayed or neutered before 4 months of age, before they either go into heat or start to spray. This procedure can be done after this age, but it may take several months before their hormones stabilize and you begin to see the benefits.

Do you recommend declawing?

We recommend that new cat owners pursue every effort to train your cat to scratch only on appropriate cat toys before this decision is made. You can promote this behavior by rubbing catnip into rope or carpeted cat scratching toys. Alternatively, using Soft Paws (www.softpaws.com) protects furniture without harming the cat. Both catnip and toys are available from your pet store. A squirt of water will also discourage unwanted cat behaviors Since declawing is an amputation procedure to remove the part of a cat’s toe that includes the claw, this procedure should only be considered if all training efforts have failed. DECLAWED CATS SHOULD BE KEPT INSIDE ONLY. After declawing, very few cats are able to effectively defend themselves.

If having a declawed cat is important to you, we recommend adopting a cat that has already gone through the procedure. Our cats are often declawed when they come to our rescue.

Does Flat-Faced Friends Rescue euthanize animals?

As a rule, Flat-Faced Friends Rescue has a "no kill" policy. Animals are kept in foster homes until they are adopted. It is not our practice to euthanize any animal. It is our objective to make every effort to place all animals that come into our care into loving and appropriate homes. In the rare event that we have an animal that is too incapacitated by illness to adopt or is suffering, we will consider euthanasia, but only after all other alternatives have been exhausted.

THANK YOU!
